Quick connect
Type an IP or host name and connect. The field autocompletes inline like Safari, and your last eight hosts are one click away.
Remote Desktop for macOS
SnapRDP works like mstsc.exe on Windows: enter an address, log on, and the session runs in the same window. Native on Apple Silicon, with a keyboard that feels like a Mac.
As simple as mstsc
No connection wizards, no accounts, no clutter. SnapRDP does one thing, and does it right.
IP address or host name. The field autocompletes like Safari and remembers your last eight hosts.
SnapRDP first checks that the computer is reachable. Then the logon dialog appears, optionally saved as a profile.
The session runs in the same window and adapts its resolution as soon as you resize the window.
The highlight
Special characters are exactly where you know them from your Mac, no matter which keyboard layout the remote side uses. No hunting for @, no guessing for \.
Features
And deliberately nothing that gets in the way. Every feature is tested and stable on its own.
Type an IP or host name and connect. The field autocompletes inline like Safari, and your last eight hosts are one click away.
Before you type your password, SnapRDP checks that the computer responds. Errors come in plain language, like “The credentials are not valid.”
macOS doesn’t resolve single-label names like LenovoL16 on its own. SnapRDP then automatically tries LenovoL16.local.
Frequent computers as tiles with a saved password. One click connects. Only logons that succeeded get saved. Up to two profiles free, unlimited with Pro.
Take your profiles to another Mac as a .snaprdp file. Passwords inside are always encrypted (AES-256-GCM). Older .macrdp files can still be read.
Resize the window and the Windows desktop follows. Crisp, with no scaling and no black bars.
Full screen with ⌃⌘F. With Pro, the session spans all connected monitors, just like at your desk.
Text, images and files, in both directions. Even large files up to 4 GiB per copy, streamed in chunks instead of loaded into memory.
Folders on your Mac appear in the session as network drives, with read and write access. Chosen per profile.
Play sound on your Mac, on the remote computer, or not at all, just like mstsc. The microphone for calls is optional; macOS only asks when it is needed.
Work PCs behind a Remote Desktop Gateway? Just enter it in the logon dialog or the profile. If a host can’t be reached directly, SnapRDP suggests going through the gateway.
Open another window with ⌘N and stay connected to several computers at once.
A SwiftUI interface with the RDP engine (FreeRDP) built in. No Homebrew, no extra packages.
No analytics, no ads, no account. The app only talks to the computers you connect to.
Profiles and passwords are stored locally. The recent hosts list only contains host names, never passwords.
No RemoteApp, no printer or smart card redirection, no broker. Fewer features, but rock solid.
Keyboard shortcuts
⌘Q, ⌘W, ⌘N, ⌘M and ⌘H stay with your Mac. All other ⌘ combinations are sent to Windows as Ctrl combinations.

FAQ
Any Windows PC or server with Remote Desktop enabled: Windows 10/11 Pro, Enterprise and Education, plus Windows Server. Windows Home editions don’t offer Remote Desktop access themselves.
No. SnapRDP is built natively for Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and requires macOS 13 Ventura or later.
Right after payment you see your license key, and you also get it by email. In SnapRDP, open Settings (⌘,) → “License”, paste the key and click “Activate”. This needs an internet connection once.
On up to 3 of your own Macs. When you switch computers, deactivate the license in the old Mac’s settings to free the slot.
No problem: on the support page you can have it resent to the email address you used for the purchase.
No, on purpose. SnapRDP focuses on the full desktop session. .rdp files, RemoteApp, printer and smart card redirection and the RD Connection Broker are not included.
Only on your Mac, in a file that only your user account can read. In exports, they are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. SnapRDP never sends any of it anywhere.
No. The App Store only allows Apple’s own in-app purchase. So buy Pro where you got SnapRDP: in the App Store for the App Store version, here for the directly downloaded version.
